My hometown is Sarapul. It is a town in Udmurtia on the Kama river with a population of about 100 thousand.
Our town is very beautiful. It has many historical buildings, in particular the mansions of successful merchants of the 19th century. Among the main attractions of Sarapul are the house and dacha of Pavel Andreevich Bashenin, merchant Smagin’s house and the old fire tower.
There are many temples and churches in the town. One can see many monuments on the streets such as the steam locomotive monument in memory of help to starving people, a monument to MiG-21 or the monument to the first Russian woman-officer Nadezhda Durova.
Tourists should visit the Sarapul Drama Theater. As for museums, I would recommend the Museum of history and culture of the Middle Kama region.
The city is an important industrial center of Udmurtia. There are enterprises of mechanical engineering, food and light industry. Among the major enterprises of the town are Sarapulsky radio plant and Sarapulsky electric generator plant.
However, the level of wages is not high. This probably explains the fact that the population of the town in the post-Soviet period tends to decrease.
Мой родной город - Сарапул. Это город в Удмуртии на реке Кама с населением около 100 тысяч человек.
Наш город очень красивый. В нем много исторических зданий, в частности особняки успешных купцов 19го века. Среди главных достопримечательностей Сарапула - дом и дача Павла Андреевича Башенина, дом купца Смагина и старинная пожарная каланча.
В городе много храмов и церквей. На улицах можно увидеть разнообразные памятники, например, памятник в виде паровоза в память о помощи голодающим, памятник в виде МиГ-21 или памятник первой русской женщине-офицеру Надежде Дуровой.
Туристам стоит посетить Сарапульский Драматический Театр. Среди музеев я бы рекомендовал Музей истории и культуры Среднего Прикамья.
Город является важным промышленным центром Удмуртии. Здесь есть предприятия машиностроения, пищевой и легкой промышленности. Среди крупных предприятий города - Сарапульский радиозавод и Сарапульский электрогенераторный завод.
Однако уровень зарплат- не высокий. Видимо поэтому численность населения города в постсоветское время имеет тенденцию к снижению.
